IV Lab Studios was founded in 2004 by Manny Sanchez in a former bank vault on Chicago’s north side. We have produced, tracked, mixed, and mastered many well-known bands and projects in our decade-plus existence. On our 10th anniversary, IV Lab Studios moved into the Lincoln Park Chicago location to expand our offerings and continue growing the legacy.
Take some time to page through the site. At IV Lab we are using the best analog and digital equipment to realize your project from start to finish. We are happy to cater to your specific needs. Please contact us with any questions or requests.
Tracking / Mixing / Mastering – Studio A has a great large tracking space with multiple isolation rooms. Enjoy our fantastic selection of outboard gear and record to tape or in-the-box through our SSL desk. Studio B is great for overdubbing and mixing on our API console. Additionally, we offer mastering and post production services.
Production – If you are interested in production for your project, we have a handful of producers on staff that can help you with your vision. Please check out our engineer’s bios and discographies to get a better idea of our production capabilities. Outside producers and engineers are welcome at IV Lab Studios; have your team work with one of our staff engineers for smooth workflow in our facilities.
“IV Labs is a bastion of quality and versatility. A sizable live room that can render a When the Levee Breaks drum sound or accommodate a serious string session, Two booths that sound great (like you can set the mic three feet away great!), an extensive mic closet, and one of my all time favorite widgets, and SSL 4056… which works! And, I shit you not, free street parking. Their staff is experienced, eminently capable and very musical too. Go there. You’ll be glad you did.”
(Producer who has worked with Counting Crows, Iron and Wine, Gomez, Modest Mouse, Nathaniel Rateliff..)
“Simply put, I.V. Lab is a one stop shop to get it all done. I’ve had the pleasure of recording, mixing, producing, filming, and hanging inside every space at I.V. It’s been the home away from home for Umphrey’s McGee since the beginning. The quality of gear is second to none, the rooms sound killer and most importantly, the team just gets it. It’s a work hard, play hard ethos that mirrors the UM way and we’re honored to have been part of such a great legacy in the making.”
(Umphrey’s McGee Manager and former engineer/producer)
